my father is on incapacity benefit and is due for his pension in a few weeks. can he still carry on getting his incapacity benefit if he doesnt claim his pension or will the benefit just stop
I believe that it is possible to defer the State Pension to allow Incapacity benefit to continue, however, are you sure that he is still receiving IB as I would have expected him to have been transferred to ESA by now, this facility is definitely not available for ESA claimants.
He needs to speak to the DWP about it but I would strongly recommend that he gets face to face advice from a trained advisor first, so that he properly understands whether doing this is to his financial advantage.
