Disability Aids was created by weasley
Can anyone tell me, when you are assessed by Capita, if you have disability aids, such as grab sticks, shoe removers, do they take the view that you are now able to function normally. I was told by one such assessor that disability aids reduce the need to claim PIP, as you can carry out the function unaided? This can't be right?

It was certainly the case with DLA that the use of aids counted against the claimant, however, for PIP the opposite seems to be the case, if you have a look at the PIP Claim guide, which explains the Descriptors that claimants are assessed against you will see that a number would allow a claimant using aids or appliances to score points.

Hi,
The use of aids helped in my claim for pip as without them you wouldnt be able to carry out daily living,so i would suggest writing down all your aids.
Good luck.
