dla to pip was created by Bryando
I want to report a change of circumstances re my dla award. Not in the areas. Phoned dla and she was not happy I wanted to claim pip.
Does a change of dla circumstances mean pip application and dla still paid until decision? Dwp lady had no clue!!

You cannot claim PIP if you are already receiving DLA and you are not in an active PIP area, the only way that you can do this is to close your DLA claim and to make a new claim for PIP, obviously you will not be paid until a Decision on your PIP claim is made.
If you have a Change of Circumstances and are not in an active PIP area then you will be re-assessed for DLA.
If you are in an active PIP area then a CofC will result in you being invited to claim PIP, providing you meet all of the PIP claim deadlines then your DLA will remain in payment until four weeks after a Decision on the PIP claim is made.
I hope this explains it.

Not sure whay to do...
Just close the DLA and apply for PIP as next year I will be due.. My award was for indefinate..
Seems a right pain a decision maker looking over me again that I won at tribunal. Only for me to re-appeal no doubt!
Where I could claim PIP and get it done and dusted! Probably loss my current low mobility...

I assume that you think you will potentially get a higher award with PIP than you will with DLA, or indeed cannot get a higher award under DLA?
Whilst there are groups of claimants where there may be an advantage to their claiming PIP, those with significant Care needs but only during the day or night not both, or those with both issues going out and walking, you also need to remember that one of the aims of PIP is to reduce the disability budget by at least 20%, this means that there are a lot more claimants who will see a reduction in their current award or even it's complete removal.
The first thing you need to consider is what award you might receive if you moved to PIP, you need to be really harsh with your self about how you might score, the DWP will certainly be looking at it in this way.
Also you need to consider the impact of having no payments until a Decision is made, PIP claims are taking at least 35 week at the moment and in some cases much longer and the wait time is still increasing.
Finally, this is a one way street, you cannot retain your DLA in the long run if you make a claim for PIP, whether you lose it immediately or when a PIP Decision is made, you will lose your DLA and will not be able to return to it, even if you challenge the new Decision it will be a PIP appeal and not one for DLA.

I am certain at the very least my mobility aspect of DLA will be abolished upon moving to PIP...
Confident of a Standard care PIP and willing to appeal with the aid of a Solicitor either via Legal Aid (Scotland this can happen for first tier) or source it myself.
I just feel applying for PIP and closing my DLA would in a way remove the worry extended until they write. Not to mention added drama if the DWP decided no DLA and having to appeal.
I have added issues on top of mental that DLA have no idea. Was not much of an issue....
So 90/50 for closing DLA and starting PIP.

This is obviously your Decision all we can do is make you aware of the facts surrounding it.
One final point for you to consider, October 2015 merely marks the beginning of the bulk transfer of DLA claims with an indefinite aware, it could be some time after this that you are actually invited to claim PIP, also, these dates are predicated on the Tories being re-elected, it is perfectly possible that another Government might delay the project further than it already is.
