Amazed but So Grateful..... was created by billhan
Had my long awaited brown envelope today.

Shocked but delighted to be put in Support Group with no F2F.

Amazed because of my crazy plan to send no documentary evidence at all and after
a year in WRAG to re-apply when my condition was a lot worse and have less hassle.

I just used the B & W guides to accurately describe the effect on my life of my conditions.

These guides and B & W advice have been truly amazing and got me in support group
without the a F2F or any of the upset others have suffered.

Thank You so much B & W.

Hi b,

That is really good news !! :cheer:

Thanks for the comments regarding our "Guides".

As you may know, we do advise that all relevant documented supportive medical evidence should be sent with The ESA50, or any request for a review/supersession. :)

You are right, I should have sent spportive medical evidence.

Part of the plan to delay for a year was to put off the hassle of collecting
paperwork and reports from different departments on a very rare medical condition.

Now I am getting over the euphoria, could I ask what is the logic about
writing to them and asking for the different forms and reasons. Why would
this be useful to me in future and which forms would I ask them for?

Hi b,

The main thing is that you were placed into The SG !! :)

The logic behind requesting " the different forms and reasons" is that firstly you will then be aware of the recommended period before you are reassessed. (the prognosis)

(The medical report in question would be an ESA85A if you did not have a face to face.)

This will give you a good idea of when you should expect to receive a fresh ESA50 for reassessment. (generally a couple of months before the end of the prognosis)

Further, even though you will be reassessed on your limitations "at the time" of the next reassessment, it will help if you know which SG Descriptor was applied this time to qualify you for The SG.

This will give you extra "ammunition" to show that you still qualify under the same SG Descriptor, in that your medical condition/s has not improved, nor have your limitations diminished, if that is the case.

Here is a previous post of mine on this subject :

Yes this makes perfect sense.

Very important to find out how I got into SG and make sure
with a progressive condition make sure that factor is drawn to
their attention next time. In spite of wanting to ignore them completely
I will write and request this information. Thank you for explaining this on my happy day.

On the period of my award, people here locally had told me to phone the number on the letter
to find out how many years. I phoned 0345 6088545 four times this morning for 5, 8, 9 and 11
minutes but never got through (just music).

Is this right number or is there an e-mail or is writing a letter what people do?

Hi b,

Yes, you can ring that number :

NEW ESA PHONE NUMBER DWP : 0345 608 8545 Press Option 3 for ESA.

Where you can request the ESA85A Medical Report, and the "length" of the award.

Even if you can get through, and it is best if you ring as early as possible, there is no guarantee that they will send out the requested "Documents", or if they will inform you of the prognosis. (Even though they should have the prognosis of The SG award on your file, on computer screen)

You could try to phone again if you wish.
