awarded 2 points for pip no idea how was created by Jay
Hi this must be an odd one, but ive been refused pip as only scored 4 points and im still waiting my phone call to explain and I will be asking for it to be looked at again, my problem is they have given me 2 points for using an aid to dress or undress, I never said I used an aid ever! I said I needed help from another person to dress, so do I rock the boat and query it or leave well and truly alone!
Thanks for any help, and brilliant informative site well done xx

I'm sorry to hear your PIP claim was unsuccessful.
The use of aids can be assumed if it is reasonable for the assessor to do so, we often hear claimants talking about what they do not do, rather than what they cannot do and why. So, if you cannot get dressed without the aid of another person, then you need to explain why this is the case, what would happen if you tried to do so without someone else and why a suitable aid would not provide the assistance you need.
Just so you are aware, requiring assistance is split between the lower (2 points) and upper body (4 points)
Please have a look at our MR & Appeal guide for more details of the process.

Whilst neither the PIP Regulations nor the DWP guidance specifically refer to the "devices" to be used for cooking it is generally accepted that meals need to be prepared on a hob, so a claimant being unable to use an oven would not result in them scoring points.
