I have been on DLA for quite a long time. Last time I was awarded it for 2 years and was to be reassessed in October 2014. In June 2014 I received and filled out a PIP application form. Since then I have heard nothing and I am scared that they will stop my DLA payments in October which is fast approaching. Should I chase up the PIP application? Phoning the DWP fills me with horror: it takes days to get thru and no one seems to know the answer to anything so I get passed from pillar to post. Advice appreciated.

Your DLA payments will continue until a Decision is made on your PIP claim, even if the current award finished in October.
Providing you have met all of the deadlines associated with making a new PIP claim then you are under no obligation to chase the DWP, if you are expecting a higher award under PIP than you currently receive under DLA then it is to your advantage to chase the DWP to complete the process as quickly as possible as there will be no back dating of any increased award.
