WCA Reassessment - still no form for renewal

Hi there

Firstly thanks for the wonderful help this forum gave me last year when I was moved straight over to ESA Support Group from IB with no medical.

I am now utterly baffled as to whether I would be getting a reassessment this year, especially as my reassessment was up for renewal in April of this year and I haven't heard anything yet.

I did email ATOS on the email address that you gave out to contact them for queries, to ask when my next reassessment was. Unfortunately I got the dreaded words back "Contact DWP for information". It seems that they aren't giving out the information now, or are just passing you back to DWP. And then obviously this will trigger a reassessment after you speak to them..

Do you have any idea whether this is standard practice from ATOS now..? Are they backing off of telling people when they would be reassessed do you know? Is this a new thing?

Hi Andagha,

The reassessment process is controlled and initiated by DWP, ATOS only know whether they have - or have not - been passed your file. Given the current backlog, I don't believe that contacting DWP would trigger a reassessment, but I cannot give a hard and fast guarantee.

Despite the publicised backlog, some of our member have actually been sent reassessment forms while others are still waiting.

I think I'll give it another while before contacting DWP.. All the time the money is going into my bank then I won't worry. Obviously by the email ATOS haven't been passed my file so that is a good thing I suppose.

Thanks for replying..

Why do you not write and ask for an SAR, at least you will know when you are due to be re assessed

Bearing in mind the current situation, knowing when reassessment was originally planned might not be of much help!

Hiya,

Yep I know however I recently helped someone who had been repeatedly over the phone informed that a re assessment was to be due this year, hence giving the person a lot of grief waiting for the latest ESA 50 to come thru the door.

I initiated a letter to be sent asking for a SAR and lo and behold it arrived and the next assesment date in writing is 2016 June.

Those being told dates over the phone by the 'call centre' staff - as I kindly call them !!! will say any load of balloney to claimants just to keep them in limbo and of course nothing to do with the 'call centre staff' just trying it on with the claimants who are distressed enough as it is without them playing god/ games.

So I still believe it is a good idea to ask for an SAR if it is feasable to obtain one
