Waiting Times for Assessment was created by AlexBloomsbury
Hi - thanks for your wonderful site. It's difficult to describe how it feels that I'm not alone here!
Anyway, my question is re the waiting times for the WCA Assessment. My application for ESA was in February but I've not heard anything re an appointment.
Concern is that, if I push them I'll get one of those paper assessments - i.e. found able to work simply on the basis of my application + wil have to start on all the JSA stuff - on less cash.
I have been the subject of some horrendous errors in the past which, thankfully, were resovlved with the help of my MP but I'm loath to bother him again because I'm scared of what the response might kidk off from DWP?Atos.
I do receive DLA (higher rate mobility + middle rate care) and, amazinlgly, got this without a medical with no reassment until 2019!!
Sorry about length of this but should I hassle "them" about the delay or not?
Many, many, many thanks
Alex

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Whilst there has been some reduction in the waiting time for a WCA we are still regularly seeing claimants waiting 12 months for an assessment to be done.
Chasing ATOS as to what is happening will not have an impact on your claim, I am afraid that the most likely result is that they will say that you are in a queue and will have to wait your turn
You cannot be found Fit for Work without a face to face assessment being done, this cannot be done on your papers only, so there is no need to worry about your contacting them.

I waited 8 months from sending my ESA form in to finally getting an ATOS assesment, then had another 2 months wait for the outcome. Result was taken out of WRAG and put into support group, Because i was already on ESA they wont backdate claim to when form sent in

With reassessments the payment is dated from the decision. If they did otherwise they would re wanting money back if people were moved down a group or found 'fit for work'.
