Support Group and Carers Allowance was created by Allen
Hi Folks I have been in the Support Group (CB) for just over 2 years and my sisters in law are trying to dump me with their 98 year old mother to care for full time as they both work and 'I'm at home all day'. They dont want a nursing home coz they would have to sell her house to pay fees.Would my ESA be affected if she came to stay. Also what would be DWPs reaction to me taking on full time caring duties of a lady doubly incontinent, deaf, high falls risk, mobility all about gone etc when Im claiming ESA because of my own condition suddenly having her to look after? The foot is down that she ain't coming but would like a wee bit of info on this. Many thanks

The first thing you need to consider is whether your looking after her will conflict with any of your stated limitations on the ESA50 you last completed, if doing so does then you may be risking your on-going award.
Her moving in should not have a direct impact on your ESA, as it is Contribution Based it is in your name only and anyway, she would not be considered part of your household for ESA purposes. You should check whether there is an impact to any other benefits that you receive, Housing Benefit for example.
As you are receiving ESA(CB) you are not entitled to Carers Allowance, I assume that she is receiving DLA Medium or Higher rate Care, PIP Daily Living or AA, however, you will have an underlying entitlement, so if you are also eligible to receive Income Related ESA as a top-up to your ESA(CB) you would receive the Carers Premium (about £0 per week). You don't mention it in your post, so I assume that there is already some reason why you cannot receive ESA(IR); partner income or working hours?
Finally, looking after someone can place a considerable strain on the individual and you need to consider the possible impact to your own physical and mental health before making such a commitment.

I think you might be right to put that foot down! ESA aside, it sounds as if the lady will need more care than one person can give, even someone who is fit and active.
