We moved house 4 months ago and my hubby informed the DLA dept, he was told they would inform the ESA dept...............fine. He received some paperwork last week redirected from previous address so called them to confirm the change. He received a phone call last Friday to say because he hadnt informed them, ESA, his payment due today would be late. Bearing in mind weve lived here for 4 months and received payment no problem. He rang today to ask when the payment would be made and was told he shouldnt have left the DLA to inform them of the change as they never do!
He was told payment would be made this week but couldnt say when.
I am afraid that there is established Case Law that it is the responsibility of the claimant to inform each and every department that they are receiving benefit from of a change of circumstances like an address change, even if the relevant DLA and ESA staff sat next to each other in the same office, you cannot rely on one to tell the other of the change.
