Hi what benefits can you get for fibromyalgia and can i claim for a stair lift.David.

None of the benefits are awarded because you have a particular condition, you can claim PIP if the condition affects your Care or Mobility requirements and ESA if it prevents you being able to work, have a look at our claim guides for more information about the qualifying criteria.

If you were awarded a benefit you could use the payments to have a stair lift fitted, also you can ask your Local Authority to do an Occupational Health assessment of your needs, they may be willing to sponsor the installation of stair lift.

Hi David,
I have fibro and am currently in the process of 'claiming' PIP. This is because of the way the condition affects me rather than the fact that I have the condition. I will update once I have any progress with my application so keep an eye out if you want to see how it goes. Obviously it would be different for each case because it affects all of us differently but it might gicve you some idea. Also, when I do have more progress I will give more detail so you can see what elements between us are similar and differentn and you might have more idea what to expect.
I find this site really useful, however would find it even more helpful to know/be able to talk to someone with the same condition as well.

ive claimed dla successfully for fibro, buts its more to do with how it effects my mobility etc, more how fibro affects how you live each day than the fibro itself,
