ATOS are complete numties

I put in my claim from IS to ESA last September and heard nothing until 4 weeks ago, asking me to travel ex amount of miles for a medical. I telephoned them to ask how the place is laid out as I have to use a wheelchair, they replied its all flat and it will take 2 hours. mmmmm, i asked about parking, they had to find that out, and it was round then corner. At that I called the Job Centre Plus and asked if it was possible to have a home visit as I wasn't able to sit for long periods, due to it being very uncomfortable. the response was to call them back asking for a home visit and they asked me to get a letter from my GP stating the reasons and faxing it to them. i had to call them back after 2 days to see what the outcome was, give them their due they called me to say it was cancelled and i had to have no medical what so ever. After spending 10 pounds on my medical information to send, (which obviously makes no difference) they make a decision from a fax message from my GP. Now I am waiting to here what benefits I will be receiving. That was 2 weeks ago as they said I would here via a telephone call within 2 weeks. Then a letter from the Job Centre to follow. What a joke they are. and a waste of time sending in all the medical information from Hospital Consultants and GP letters etc.

Hi Clive, you are right to suggest that ATOS are not, on the whole, known for their clarity of thought! I'm glad that you finally managed to get a decision without a face2face assessment, you might know that you cannot be found 'fit for work' without one.

I'm afraid that you might still have something of a wait for a decision, please let us know when you get it.
