Fantastic site and the MOD's are the best, I have been in the support group for the last 3 1/2 years, various problems, severe IBS, Depression/Anxiety and Fibromyalgia, I know the dreaded brown envelope (ESA 50) is due in the next few weeks, do you have an update on weather the reassessments are still been suspended for 2 years, any help would be appreciated.
Best Wishes

Our understanding is that all re-assessments have been suspended, but we have had a small number of members report that they have received ESA50s as part of a new re-assessment process, so we cannot state for certain that it is a 100% deferment.
I would recommend your contacting ATOS closer to the date, doing so will not trigger a re-assessment as it is the DWP that initiate them, and they will be able to tell you if you have one pending. You can leave it, but there is still the possibility of the ESA50 going missing in the post, so I do not advise it.

In my view its based on the region as not all areas have backlogs, if it was nationwide some areas would have ATOS staff twiddling their thumbs because they have nothing to do. The backlogs seem to be in hotspots not evenly across the country.
Whilst some people on here think its unusual for people to be getting ESA50s, I know of 20 or so people in my area who have got them since January. I don't know anyone (not talking about people on the internet) who was expecting one and didn't get one. I also asked welfare rights in my area and they said its business as usual for the city, they have not seen a drop in ESA50s.
I think advising people to expect the best instead of the worst can be a bit misleading?
I am expecting mine to show up when its due because of this

Hi C29,
I would not argue with you with respect to deferments of reassessments varying regionally.

However, we can only provide members with the information that we are privy to.
I personally have noted a sharp decline in people reporting that they have received a new ESA50 for reassessment on B&W and other sites across the internet.
We have tried to make it clear to members on several occasions that these deferments are a change to operational procedure only, and things could therefore change without further announcements of the fact.
I would always advise that members should "prepare for the worse and hope for the best".
This is why it is a good idea to have a Pdf version of The ESA50 that you can update regularly and treat as an ongoing work in progress.
At least total panic would not ensue if one received an ESA50 through the post unexpectedly.
Cheers

Just a quick personal update, no sign of the dreaded brown envelope, even though it is overdue, I do have a fab contact at the JC and rang them to give a personal health update, and asked the obvious question are all WCA's still suspended? answer, yes, i would not expect you to be contacted till 2015, not sure if this helps anyone and wonder if anyone else is due around this time, and if they have heard anything. Good to share
Best wishes to everyone and especially the fab mods who tirelessly help us all morning, noon and night
