Update on my PIP journey was created by Carrera74
Just thought I would share my timescales for anyone going through this at the same time....

27 Feb - Sent completed PIP2 and associated reports to DWP
3 Mar - Received by ATOS
16 June - Contacted ATOS to be told that my son doesn't need a f2f assessment and that they returned the information to DWP on 10 June

I'm 16 weeks in so far!

ATOS said that it should take about 3 weeks from receipt to get the assessment outcome.

I'm not sure what to make of him not needing to go for a f2f assessment! Fingers crossed it isn't going to be bad news but the more I read the more I think I haven't given the right amount / detail in the application.

Time will tell....

I contacted the PIP helpline earlier for an update as it's nearly been six weeks since they received the report from ATOS.

They advised that it is still with case worker and it could be another 2 weeks. She said it's the volume of applications that is causing the delay....

She did advise to ring back weekly and once a decision is made and the letter has been generated they can tell me the outcome over the phone.

She also advised that if my son is awarded it will be backdated to when the DWP received his original transfer to adult/renewal application which is a huge relief as we thought we had lost out on 7 weeks worth of benefit for him - when I first joined this forum I had received incorrect advise and they closed my son's claim but they transferred it to PIP and have taken the claim from the date they received his DLA application. Therefore I am 26 weeks in this week!

Update:

We received the brown envelope on Friday and my son has been awarded enhanced care and enhanced mobility. This is effective from November 2014 which I am hoping is a typo! I have been trying to get through to the DWP most of the day to flag this with them but no such luck so far. I am hoping they will backdate it to January when we put the initial claim in!

I'm still in shock!

Congratulations on the award.

If it was a new claim for PIP and not a "transfer" from DLA then the award should be paid from the date of application, assuming that you met all of the required dates during the process.

I have telephoned the helpline this morning as it's two weeks since I contacted them and I haven't heard anything back from them. The advisor asked if I had requested a reconsideration?! Then said my query was passed on the 29th and on the system it looks like my son is in receipt of DLA and that's why they have awarded from November?! Nobody has bothered to contact me to let me know this. My son hasn't had any benefit since his DLA expired in January. The chap I spoke to today said he would pass it to the case worker again and I should hear something back within 5 days - if not I should ring again and they will request a call back (for the third time).

It's so frustrating that you can't actually speak to anyone that can actually do anything. I have to wait until they phone me - I am assuming that is the case? I honestly thought we were at the end but seems the PIP / DLA fiasco will never end! Hmpf.

Even if your son was still in receipt of DLA a start date for PIP of November 2014 would still be incorrect as DLA can only be paid for a further 4 weeks after a PIP Decision is made which only makes mid August.

It shouldn't be that complicated for them after all there should only be two dates it can be, so quite how they come up with a third beggars belief.
