PIP was created by Bryando
Just phoned Atos re my partner's claim for PIP.
They got it on the 27th of April. Currently looking over it and might have to gather more information etc. After that will be placed on the waiting list for an assessment.
The system is a joke of the highest order! April and they are still looking over it.
God help people whom present with complex needs.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Charlie,
You are right, it's a farce isn't it?! Many people are waiting months to even hear whether they will need an assessment and considerably longer before they get a decision on the claim

Yes it's terrible
I hope my partner does not get a face-face as the psychological distress would worse the condition! Social Anxiety. Dealing with strangers as well as family members provokes negativity.
The longer the process goes the more anxiety for my partner. That could trigger further self-harming.
Indeed it was mentioned on the PIP claim that a face-face could result in more self-harming occurring.

How do they decide not to conduct a face-face? In a way it might be ideal, as my partner will probably have a panic attack. Alongside the obvious body language that prevails with Social Anxiety Disorder

In principle, if the assessor has sufficient evidence in and with the PIP claim form that they can make a recommendation to the DWP Decision Maker without a face to face assessment then they can do so, however, up until the last few weeks only about 2% of PIP claimants fell into this category and many of those will have qualified due to a terminal illness.
A recent change in PIP guidance may push this figure up as high as 25% but there will still be no guarantees and based on our experience with ESA, this may not actually be to the advantage of many claimants who may receive lower awards than they actually deserve, which then requires a stressful appeal process, which might require the assessment that was missed I the first place.

A face-face is going to create a nightmare. I had to push for my partner to make the claim. The face-face was putting my partner off!
I filled the claim in. Provided a statement. The CPN just said social anxiety and referred for CBT that may help. However has a introvert personality, speak with GP for more information.
Partner gets headaches due to the blood pressure linked to the anxiety and panic attacks inside the surgery. Never speaks fully , frustrating!
