Pip start was created by Mags
Had telephone appointment with my Dr yesterday and saw my WRO today, went through my answer to my questions, using your guides, and she said well done, so I started my PIP journey, fingers crossed, but with my evidence I have she is quite optimistic. Will keep you informed of how it goes, with a bit of luck will know something by next June

Hi M,
Thanks for the continuing updates.
Good Luck !!!
I am sure that you will receive a decision much sooner than June 2015, i.e. May 2015 !!!
Only joking, of course.

Hi Jim
I went for my wheelchair assessment and they are having one altered for me so should get it next week, because I have sleep apnoea syndrome they will not supply me with an electric wheelchair for safety reasons
so still can't get out on my own unless I but a mobility scooter, more expense
just waiting for my "how your disability affects you form" should be here by next Friday otherwise I have to ring them.
Thanks for the advice.

Hiya.
When they said they would not let you have an electric wheelchair because of the sleep apnea syndrome, for safety reasons etc that makes sense.
What does not make sense is that you want to buy an electric scooter for outside activity which is more dangerous . Having one really eliminates why you would be able to have DLA/PIP/ESA as it is contrary to one of the reasons you are applying for benefits.
E.g, I can only have a rear operated wheelchair because of my poor upper mobility problems and poor peripheral eye sight. So if I was to purchase a motor scooter it would remove one of the reasons for my ability to claim DLA and ESA.
So you need to be really careful on what you write for your ESA/DLA/PIP claims and ability/ non ability re a manual wheelchair/ electric scooter.

PCM
Whilst I agree in part with your comment, I do feel I have to clear up some misunderstandings.
Neither PIP nor DLA test the use of wheelchair in their criteria, of any flavour, the test is purely a walking one.
ESA only considers a manually propelled one.
