Hello

I received a letter from the DWP about a month ago

So far, I have been one of the lucky ones who has not been called yet, but I think that this letter might be the start of what I have been dreading...

It was a form MIG 1 from the Incapacity Benefits section, asking me to confirm my name and address and update my details by giving them my phone number and name and address of my GP.

I am down on the computer as getting IB credits only, although I do get SDA, but it is not paid via the computer because it was awarded ex statutory after SDA was closed to new applications , because the DWP admitted that they had made a mistake / misdirection in my claim some years earlier and I was not invited to apply when I had automatic entitlement to apply when I was awarded DLA .

The form said to send it back straight away. Unfortunately, I panicked when it arrived and shoved it away somewhere, and now I cannot find it!

I don't want to fill it in as I am really, really scared, but, at the same time, I know that I can't go on hoping that they will just leave me alone, although if I do find it, I am still very reluctant to return it, and make life easier for them!!

I would never give them my phone number anyway, as I struggle to use the phone, and do not answer it if it rings.

Just really scared and don't know what I should do :(

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I am afraid it is never a good idea to ignore a letter requesting information from the DWP, if you cannot find the letter then you need to call the office that normally deals with your claim and request another one.
