Hi Wendy and welcome to the forum. On the assumption that you are also new to the site, have a look at the FAQ as it should help you find your way around.

Welcome to Benefits and Work

How long ago was the decision to put you into the WRAG? You can only appeal up to a maximum of 13 months after the initial decision. If the decision was since the 28th Oct 2013, then you must ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration before you can appeal.

How long do I have to appeal?

How to submit an appeal

In order to get put into the Support Group you must satisfy at least one of the Support Group descriptors. If you are going to appeal the original decision you must show that this applied on the date that decdision was made.

Qualifying for the Support Group

If it is too late to appeal and/or your condition has worsened in the meantime you can ask DWP for a 'supersession' which would trigger a new assessment process. You would have to show that 1) Your condition has worsened since the original decision was made and 2) You now satisfy Support Group descriptors. The onus would be on you to provide the evidence to back up your claim.

I'm afraid that you will still be obliged to attend Work Focussed Interviews/Work Related Activities in the meanwhile and, if you are on contributory ESA and not entitled to Income-Related ESA, payment will still stop afer 365 days if (as is likely) a new decision has not been reached by that time.

If you have any further questions pease reply to this post and we will do our best to help. You will find it easily in future if you bookmark it, or make it a favourite, on your web browser now :)
