When i changed from IB to ESA was getting a top up payment as ESA was less. After year applied for income based, just got award letter for income based ESA and no longer get top-up. I called and was told top-up only applies to contribution based ESA. I just wanted to check that this is correct. TY
The transitory arragement 'top up' stay in place until ESA catches up with the IB payments or there is a change of circumstances. I believe that DWP class the switch to income-related ESA as such a change. On the plus side, being on an income-related benefit passports you to other benefits (such as free prescriptions).
