Hi I am new to the site, I am a carer of a good friend of mine who suffers with mental health and fibromyalgia. The new pip form has to be in by 7th may, she hasnt completed none of the form.

So my question is, whilst i have read the forms on here and its made filling in the form for her psychical disabilities easier, I have no clue what i should be writing when it comes to her mental health.

My friend suffers with Borderline personality disorder, insomnia and never leaves the house due to violent outburst, as mixing with others is a no no. So any help you can give will be greatly appreciated thanks xx

The process for dealing with Mental Health issues and PIP is not significantly different from a physical condition, you need to look at any difficulties your friend has in completing the PIP activities due to the MH issues and explain why and to what degree.

For example; if your friend needs prompting to cook and eat or they have problems taking their medicine because they are not aware of their conditions, these would all be applicable to PIP, also you mention they have problems going out then this would specifically relate to question 1 of the mobility section.

There are examples of using MH issues in answering the questions on the PIP form in our PIP Claim guide.
