Hi
I am on and have been for the last 9 years, the indefinite award, of middle rate care and top rate mobility.

Please correct me if I am wrong, I will be re assessed for the new PIP sometime between 2015 and 2018 because I am on an indefinite award? Also will there be such a thing as an award of Indefinite or Life awards being handed out? or will it all be on a fixed term 1/2/3 years etc?

Also do the same rules apply to ESA as above? as I have been in the SG for the last 2 years and they keep sending me a form every year to fill in, my clinical notes from consultants do say there is very little chance of improvement as regards to my conditions.

Regards

Yes, you should be assessed at some time after October 2015.

There are indefinite awards for PIP but we expect these to only be awarded in the most extreme cases, the longest we expect the majority of claimants with an indefinite DLA award to receive when transferred to PIP is 10 years and many will be less than this!

ESA does not include an award length as part of the Decision, it is classed as an indefinite award with regular re-assessment, at the moment the longest periods between these are 2 years for the WRAG and 3 years for the Support Group. There has been some discussion about extending the period for the SG for some claimants, but at this time this has not happened and even if it did, the DWP are still legally entitled to start a re-assessment process at any time after three months since the previous Decision.

Thank you Gordon

So there will be NO more life awads for PIP only indefinite and fixed terms i.e. 1,2,3 years?

As DLA life awards have changed to 'indefinite' and the whole ethos of the benefit changes was that claimants would undergo periodic reassessments, I think there is zero chance of lifetime PIP awards - under the current governement at least and I suspect that any other would maintain the status quo.

Hi s41,

Yes that's correct, it is as Gordon says.

As an aside, there have been no Lifetime Awards for DLA for several years, they were superceded by Indefinite Awards.
