Hi I currently get full mobility dla and middle care component, I do not have a car on motability however i get the Free Tax certification.

I now need to replace my vehicle I understand that i have to contact DLA to amend the certificate for the new vehicle.

Will this automatically trigger a PIP claim.??

Hi S,

If I recall rightly, you just take your DLA award letter with you when you go to tax your new vehicle? Whatever happens, this does not count as a change of circumstance and it will not trigger a DLA renwal or PIP claim.

As an aside, it seems that your username might be your real name. If you wish to change this, in order to maintain an element of anonymity, you can do so by following the advice in this FAQ.

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Hi w,

As MHB rightly states, this will not be classed as a Change of Circumstances, so you have no worries there.

The old style DLA Tax Exemption Certificates have changed.

The used to have an end date. Before this date is due to expire, you should send it back to the address on The Certificate.

They are now issuing a simple "letter form" certificate with a reference number on it.

You will obviously have to have the Taxation Class on your new vehicle changed with the DVLA, to "Disabled".

It is a simple process, and there should not be any problems.

The link provided by MHB should guide you through this.
