carers allowence was created by William
I have been my wife's carer for many years, can someone give me an answer to 1 question.
Is Carer allowance a seperate payment or does it come out of the benefit of the person who is being cared for.

It is a separate payment, however it is also a linking benefit. So if the person you cared for was receiving the severe disablement premium this would stop. However it is unlikely that your wife would be receiving this as it is for disabled people who live alone, assuming you also live together.

Unfortunately state pension is also a linking benefit. However you may be able to get a carers premium in the form of pension credit. Pension credit calculations are complex go to;
www.gov.uk/pension-credit-calculator
To check your entitlement.
