Advice please was created by worrywart
I was awarded ESA support for 2 years so the award is due to end later this year. Can you advise please do I have to submit a new application at the end of the two year period?
I have done something really stupid inso much as I cannot find my original application! I cannot believe it - I seem to recall filling it in online but I cannot relocate it . I am usually very good with correspondence and it is probably buried in the computer somewhere. So annoyed.
I put a lot of work into my original application and am hoping I won't have to go through it all again,
Thank you for your help.

Hi ww,

In theory all ESA awards are indefinite, so your ESA does not "end" after 2 years.

However, with each ESA award there comes a prognosis, which is the recommended period before your award should be reassessed.

See : How often will I be reviewed

If the award goes over the 2 year prognosis, your payments will not stop. They will remain in payment until you have been reassessed and a fresh decision has been made by The DWP on the reassessment.

You do not have to do anything to instigate the reassessment, and you do not have to make a fresh claim.

You will know when your reassessment process has started as you will receive a new ESA50 Questionnaire through the post.

However, reassessments for current ESA recipients have been deferred, so you may not receive the ESA50 when expected.

Have a look at this topic :

Hopefully, your reassessment may be deferred for 2 years, as reported.
