I understand that permitted work means you can still claim ESA.

However, are the earnings (£95 per week for supported) taken into account in assessing the level of benefits for Income-based ESA and Housing benefit?

I believe the whole amount of money earned via 'permitted work' is taken into account for income-related ESA. I don't know the situation with Housing Benefit (but suspect it will be the same), you would have to contact the relevant department.

Carmind,

I'm sorry, I am reliably informed that I am wrong! Money from PW is discounted for both contributary and income-related ESA :) I'm afraid I still cannot comment re Housing Benefit. Perhaps you will let us know if/when you have found out?

As John Maynard Keynes once said, "when I'm wrong I change my mind. What do you do?"
Many thanks for the info and I will let you know about Housing benefit.
