i am soon to inherit £50,000 and do not know what to do or what will happen, i am receiving SDA and DLA while my wife who works 25hrs per week receives working tax credit, child tax credit and housing benefit. How will this inheritance affect our situation.

DLA is not means tested and will not be affected whereas the other benefits are. As your savings will be over the £16,000 threshold I believe they will stop.

Sorry, no, I got that wrong child and working tax credit should not be affected by savings.

Hi sb,
That amount of capital will probably affect your HB, at least.
I would recommend that you gain professional face to face advice where they will have access to all your personal and financial details.
What is classed as capital and assets can be a very complicated area of benefits law/rules.
Where to get advice?
